Hello, My name is Guido van Herten and i am a 35 year old Sub Officer in a volunteer fire department in the netherlands. In our department we operate one engine / pump, one small rescue and special hazmat decontamination unit for chemical suits. I have started collecting international firehelmets more than 20 years ago, but I am always looking for any helmets to make the collection which is exhibited in our fire station, even bigger. I have collected more than 250 firehelmets. Through the contacts I have established over the years and the visits I have paid to the several parts of the world I have obtained and exchanged some beautiful and very rare firehelmets such as the helmet from Vatican city, several original FDNY helmets, East Europe, Kuwait, but also the European countries are numerous in sort and type helmet. However, from some parts of the world, unfortunately, helmets are still missing in my collection or are not completed. In the extensive collection I do not have any helmet from an Iceland Fire Department. I therefore started writing to several Fire Departments to make the missing items complete. I know it is a lot to ask, but If you would take a look at our site: www.brandweerhelmen.nl you would see that that I indeed am a very serious collector who is no fraud and I therefore hope that your Fire Department would be willing to help me obtaining an old and used helmet from your Fire Department to enlarge this special section in our museum in the fire station. I have our helmets for a return exchange! Please let me know! Check us at www.brandweerbelfeld.web-log.nl or visit our site, just online, www.brandweerhelmen.nl to find out more about the collection. Yours truly, Brandweer Belfeld Sub Officer Guido van Herten Pastoor Hermensstraat 4 5951 GB Belfeld The Netherlands E-mail : guidovanherten@home.nl
